Slick (for macOS)

Slick Disclaimer: Slick is not created by, affiliated with, or supported by Slack Technologies, Inc.

Slick is a custom Slack app for macOS that’s been built on top of Electron. The app itself is merely an interface that wraps the web-based Slack application using Electron Webviews. So it’s not much different from running Slack in a browser.

Slick Features

  • Tabbed interface.
  • Chrome developer console.
  • Ability to add persistent custom CSS/JS.
  • The Slack Reply Shortcut plugin is built-in. i.e., Highlight some text and press the R key for automatic quoted replies. Since Slack introduced threaded replies, this is no longer necessary.

Bugs: Slick is not updated often. So it may, or may not, work with the latest Slack web-based interface. Please report problems at GitHub.

Installation Instructions

  • Download zip file, see: latest official release
  • Unzip and move Slick.app into a desired location.
  • Double-click Slick.app to open on macOS.
